Kaysie's Bio
Kaysie has had a different tennis experience than most of the professionals on tour these days. Unlike most pros that begin playing tennis between the ages of five and seven, Kaysie started playing at the age of twelve. While growing up in El Paso, Texas she was a very active child. At the age of five, she was very active in soccer and stayed heavily involved until high school. When she was nine, a friend’s dad convinced her parents to let her play on all boys basketball league, where she was the starting point guard. She loved beating up on the guys!
Kaysie was heavily involved in soccer and basketball all the way through junior high, but, at age fourteen, she decided to put all her efforts into tennis. That same year, Kaysie qualified for the junior national tournaments and, within two years, won her first national title at age sixteen. In deciding to put all her effort into tennis, she committed herself to play for Franklin High School in El Paso, the USTA sectional and national tournaments, and earned a tennis scholarship to the University of Texas at Austin. Enroute, she was able to win three (3) Texas state tennis championships (2 doubles, 1 singles), five (5) national doubles championships, and four (4) professional championships. As a junior, she also earned the sportsmanship award at the International Grass Court Championships and the National Intersectional competition.
